Term3 submissions have been going fantastically well. 99.99%-100% minimum for FrontOFFICE schools who are all submitting genuine SASAMS databases. Well done all and to my fantastic team. News on the patch below:
There is a document in your FrontOFFICE\Department\2022 Cloud folder called ‘What is new on SA-SAMS 22.1.0.PDF’
This is a summary:
1. New Subject added to Grade 9 – “Competency” – Lurits Code “12345678” (go figure!)
2. Option 3.1.3 added for capturing of Matric Exam Numbers. – Not yet activated – still greyed out.
3. NSC Registration forms now allow Indian as a race and there are 2 extra pages printed. One is a dept use page and the second is a Consent To Use Data to be signed by Parent.
4. School info – Circuit numbers added – No effect in KZN – For MP Only
5. New reasons added for Teachers and Staff Absenteeism – Industrial Action, Unauthorised Unpaid Leave ( in place of Unknown), Pending Incapacity Leave.
6. Educator Qualifications option amended. Further details to follow.
7. QMS Tool added at 2.1.18 – Still doesn’t work – Gives invalid use of Null Error- Could be due to data in Educators table – will need more checking.
8. System Date supposed to change format automatically – Still does not work.
9. List of approved LTSM items updated.
10. Learner Edit page – Tab order corrected.
11. Parent Passport field supposed to be added. Cannot find it. Still combined with ID Number field.
12 Social Sciences Curriculum updated for term4 – Cannot see what has changed.
In short:
Only issue affecting us (FrontOFFICE) is the Learner Race. We need to change it back to the correct list before you sync next. We will release an update for that.
Possibly need to look at the Educator Qualifications used for sync to sams and Sams2front schools.
And of course Staff absenteeism sync with new reasons.
There are districts insisting that, when grade 12 academic heads meet with the subject advisors, are insisting that they have patched to the latest. It boggles my mind because the patch has not had any effect whatsoever on the curriculum up to term3 and they are expecting submissions based on previous patch today with marks being authorised etc. and then everything patched for Monday and ultimately, they will use the marks from the ‘blue and green’ blokkies thingy anyway.
In any event, we have pushed forward as quickly as possible so that those districts that are throwing their weight around (most have realised it is neither here nor there if it is still on 21.2.1) will be adhered to;
IF you have submitted for Term3 successfully then you can run patch 22.1.0.
Please don’t sync from FrontOFFICE to SAMS though or SAMS2Front until we have released update 182. This is fine, you won’t need to have run a sync for your grade 12s subject meetings.
